The version that Gracey has inherited from the departing Francis Lawrence, however, is reportedly a China-set epic that focuses far more on the seven companions (they don't even appear to be dwarves in this incarnation) than on Snow herself. Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt penned the most recent draft, which pitches the seven as a mis-matched international band of ronin in the 19th Century, who encounter an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil and see a chance to regain their former glory. Gracey will now start pre-production, with shooting pencilled in for next year, so alongside the difference in its material, Order of the Seven will gain some distance from its rivals in terms of its release date. In a wraparound device, aging rocker Spyder (Kevin Zegers) is interviewed by a reporter (Lukas Haas) before the film flashes back to the '80s and Spyder's tension-filled return to his hometown and former best pal Eric (Jason Ritter), whose songs he stole for his megahit first album. Eric insists Spyder, Spyder's bandmates and sexy agent (Taryn Manning) join him and '60s relic Fonda on a folkloric trip down Route 66 to regain their spark.
